No time to 'splain. Let me sum up...

Greetings, Fearless Readers. I am writing this at 12:12 am (pay no attention to post time, I am a slow writer of blog posts). This, I am sure, is due to daylight savings time. Sigh. I foresee wandering around like a damn zombie much of tomorrow.

I had a lazy weekend. I'll admit it. I only got a few chapters edited, but I'm up to page 307, and so far, it looks like I've shaved off about 23 pages. This is good. I'm at 476 pages, and I know there is more to trim. If I get down to 450 I think I'd be happy. That's 112K. I think that'll do, pig. And I'm sure my betas will show me the error of my ways and help me jettison some more. **Looks sternly in the direction of potential beta readers**

I'm also going to adjust my goals for the year. I had three months of editing planned. One thing I have learned from this experience - two months is not enough simmer time for a book. I'm gonna write another book in Sept and Oct instead of editing three books in a row. Next year, I'll write a book, do an edit, write a book, do an edit.

I'm also getting excited about April. I'm resurrecting an old story, my second book that I never finished. I wrote myself into many corners and did much ceiling staring during the writing of it. Now, of course, I have learned the write and write and write technique and now, I trust my instincts. Before, I didn't listen to myself, I thought I was wrong all the time. I've decided now that my subconscious is my best friend and it knows what it's doing. I mean, who else is going to write these things, right?! It's a sort of western boy meets jungle girl love story. With horses and cows. Cattle rustling. It's all good.... I foresee a lot of Hank and Hank Jr. on the itunes next month.

  3. Lee - thank you! I'm glad I'm not the only one!

Aubrie... she... are from the jungle. ?? tee hee.The thing I love about it is that in her society, the roles are reversed. The women "bond" with greatcats and go out and do the hunting/gathering and protect the outer territories where they live. The men stay in the village and fashion living structures and tools and things - but they are the epitome of masculinity. I'm looking forward to going back there...
