Productivity or the Lack Thereof

Greetings, all. I am about 20 pages away from being done with the first pass of edits on my first real-for-true Urban Fantasy. However. The flu bug rose up its filth-infested head and brought me low and those 20 pages are still waiting. I imagine my characters are on the field of battle, filing their nails and cursing my name, waiting for me to get back to work. I'm just not capable of serious butt-in-chair time yet. Unlike what I'm doing right now, squinting at the screen, barely coherent and unable to tolerate coffee. (I really do apologize for the nature and wording of this post - I have no idea if I'm making any sense at all.) I haven't even been able to read, beyond captions on cat pictures. Oh, and that Netflix I used to love so much? Complete waste of money. I'm canceling that shiznet.

The only thing I am beset by, writing wise, is ideas for more books - and there will be no books until the 4 un-edited novels are edited! I've had so many ideas, I haven't written some of them down, and thus they are lost forever. (The limits on my short term memory are truly terrifying!) The only really good thing about this illness? I can't wait to finish those 20 pages of edits, whereas before I was dreading it.

Ok, kids, I'm going back to my chair and spending my Saturday watching HGTV design shows and eating soup. Hope you are being more productive than I am.

  1. I'm sorry you're sick... that's the pits. I find it difficult to write when I'm ill also. It's a shame, because you feel like you have so much TIME all of a sudden, but you feel so terrible that you can't make yourself want to write.

  3. :( Aw...sorry you have the flu, fairy. Get lots of rest and fluids. And as soon as you're back to your old self kick that editing in the butt. :) Get well soon.
